Colonel Serhiy Zakharevych, commander of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Lieutenant General Marko Bezruchko, has been killed.

This was reported by his wife Oksana and General Serhiy Sobko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

The circumstances of the death have not yet been disclosed.

According to the general, the deceased is survived by three children.

Sobko recalls his comrade as an outstanding officer:

“He was the best of us during the training, the most talented. He never broke down and always went forward, no matter what.” The General also quoted the words of US General James Mattis: “There are two traits he values most in leaders: aggressiveness and initiative. This is completely about Serhiy. There is no better example of an officer with these qualities.”

The 110th Brigade itself has not yet confirmed the death of the commander in a comment to Hromadske, but has not denied it either.

Serhiy Zakharevych was appointed to lead the 110th Brigade in February 2025 after Ukrainian forces lost control of the village of Velyka Novosilka in the south of Donetsk Oblast.

Prior to that, he was the deputy commander of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade and also served in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 1st Separate Tank Brigade.
