Maksym Kazban, commander of the “Luty” brigade, was killed: what is known

Colonel Maksym Kazban, commander of the joint assault brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Luty”, was killed in a car accident in Donetsk region. This was announced by the head of the National Police Ivan Vygivsky, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“An irreparable loss in our police family… A man of honor and word. A man of courage and fortitude. The one who hundreds followed in the most difficult times… A true warrior and patriot of his country,” Vyhivskyi said.
He expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Maxim Kazban. At the same time, Vygivsky did not give any details about Kazban’s death.

What is known about Maksym Kazban

Police Colonel Maksym Kazban became the head of the Luty Brigade in September 2024. Until then, he was the first deputy commander of the brigade. Kazban has been involved in the defense of Ukraine since 2014, when he fought in eastern Ukraine against pro-Russian terrorists.
After the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Kazban took part in many special operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the operation to destroy Russian helicopters in Chornobaivka near Kherson.
In early July, he gave an interview to Ukrinform, in which he said that the unit’s combat path begins in the east, in the Bakhmut direction, and the brigade also performs tasks in the Pokrovsk direction, and has been to the Kharkiv and Sumy directions.
The National Police Brigade “Rage” appeared after the Ministry of Internal Affairs began forming the “Offensive Guard” assault brigades in January 2023. In addition to the “Rage” brigade, the State Border Guard Service’s “Steel Frontier” brigade and six National Guard brigades were formed. They were composed of existing police officers, border guards, and national guardsmen.
