20 February 13:15

In the first two weeks of February, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced purchases of statuettes with logos, medals, branded bags, and key chains. Their total cost is almost one million hryvnia. This is evidenced by data from the state electronic public procurement system Prozorro, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

In particular , the National Anti-Corruption Bureau plans to purchase statues with its logo for 110,500 hryvnia , medals for 200,000 hryvnia, tokens for 79,500 hryvnia, key chains and branded bags with a total cost of 160,000 hryvnia.

In addition to souvenir products, NABU is purchasing media monitoring services for UAH 227,700.

It also purchases translation services worth UAH 7.8 million.

It should be noted that in 2026, NABU’s expenses will increase to 2.54 billion hryvnia, which is 370 million more than in 2025. The majority of the increased budget will be allocated to staff salaries.

Money for NABU and from NABU

Political expert Oleg Posternak considers the increase in NABU’s funding to be unjustified, pointing out that the state’s expenses for the Bureau exceed its benefits. He says that NABU’s cases have returned only 680 million hryvnia to the budget.

“One of the most media-hyped structures has decided to sharply increase its expenses. The amount is staggering—2.54 billion hryvnia since January of this year. The money will mainly go toward salaries and bonuses for employees. The entire NABU structure has exposed, caught, and packaged corrupt officials for a total of only 680 million, while spending 2.6 billion per year,” he said.

The NABU categorically rejects accusations regarding the economic effect of its work.

First, the Bureau calls such statements by experts manipulation, and second, it claims that in 2025, the economic effect of the activities of NABU and SAPO amounted to at least 6.5 billion hryvnia. This amount includes money saved by the state on procurement, fines, bail, confiscated property, etc.

As [Komersant], the SBI is purchasing a second batch of personal tokens for its employees, at half a million each.

In 2025, the BEB purchased 11 service vehicles and equipment for almost UAH 22 million.
