Suspicion was served in absentia to Russian soldier who shot a car with people in Kyiv region

The Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion to a Russian soldier who shot a car with two civilians in the village of Katyuzhanka, Vyshgorod district, Kyiv region, in February 2022.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

As investigators found out, the 27-year-old commander of the howitzer self-propelled artillery platoon of the 155th separate brigade of the Marines of the Pacific Fleet of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces shot at the civilian car with an assault rifle. He did it together with another Russian military.

According to the investigation, the murder took place on February 25, 2022 at about 13:00. As a result, two people died on the spot – a man and a woman.

According to the National Police, the Russian military fired from an equipped combat position in the village. There, they used an armored personnel carrier to shoot at civilian cars in which local residents were trying to evacuate.

The crime was classified as a violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder, committed by a group of people by prior conspiracy (Article 28(2) and Article 438(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The Russian military officer faces life imprisonment.
