31 October 2024 18:28

on October 31, the main flag of Ukraine, installed on the territory of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, was lowered due to the forecasted bad weather. This was reported by Kyivzelenstroy, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

In this regard, it is worth recalling that the flagpole is almost 90 meters high and weighs 32 tons, and the size of the flag cloth is 16 by 24 meters. Therefore, strong winds can cause problems.

Tomorrow afternoon, wind gusts of 15-20 m/s are expected. This corresponds to the first, yellow, level of danger.

Utilities have warned that the flag will remain at half-mast until weather conditions improve.

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center predicts that on November 2-4, the wind will subside slightly and reach 7-12 m/s, i.e., the same as today. However, the forecast does not mention gusts of wind. And on Tuesday, the wind will weaken even more – up to 5-10 m/s. So, there is reason to hope that the Ukrainian flag will soon fly over Kyiv again.

As for the full weather forecast for November 1 in the Kyiv region, the Ukrainian Meteorological Center again predicts partly cloudy weather, no precipitation, westerly winds of 7-12 m/s, gusts of 15-20 m/s during the day. The temperature in the region will be 3-8° Celsius at night and 11-16° Celsius during the day; in Kyiv, 6-8° Celsius at night and 12-14° Celsius during the day.

What are the levels of “weather” danger?

The one predicted by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center for tomorrow is the first level of danger, yellow.

Hazardous meteorological phenomena of the first hazard level with a “yellow” color designation are weather phenomena that, in terms of quantity, duration and area of distribution, create certain inconveniences for the population and the functioning of the economic complex.

Natural meteorological phenomena of the second hazard level – color designation “orange” – are weather phenomena that, in terms of their quantity, duration and area of spread, pose a threat to the population and disrupt the functioning of the economic complex.

Natural meteorological phenomena of the third hazard level – color designation “red” – are weather phenomena that, in terms of quantity, duration and area of spread, pose a threat to human life over large areas, lead to large-scale damage to economic facilities, and cause damage to the environment.

By the way, gusts of westerly wind at a speed of 15-20 meters per second will also disturb the residents of Zhytomyr tomorrow. Kateryna Tkachuk, Head of the Hydrometeorological Support Department of the Zhytomyr Regional Center for Hydrometeorology, told Suspilne. She also explained that on November 1, the territory of Zhytomyr region will be in the warm sector of cyclone MARTINA.
