Chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detained for $1 million during the war

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is suspected of illicitly enriching himself by $1 million during the full-scale war with Russia. This was reported by the press services of the SBU and the Prosecutor General’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The suspect is the deputy chairman of the Central Military Qualification Commission and makes decisions on the fitness of military personnel for service. He was detained with the assistance of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky.
The suspect’s name has not been disclosed, but it is known that Oleh Druz is the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces.

According to the investigation, the suspect has acquired a number of real estate properties in Kyiv, Odesa, and Kyiv region, as well as several cars over the nearly three years of war.
According to the investigation, during 2022-2024, the suspect purchased
- a private house in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region
- 2 apartments in Kyiv;
- 1 apartment in Odesa;
- 2 land plots in Obukhiv district of Kyiv region;
- BMW X7 2024;
- BMW X7 2022; BMW X5 2023;
- BMW X5 2023;
- BMW X3 made in 2022;
- as well as other property.





The suspect did not indicate all this in his declaration and registered the property in the names of his wife, daughter, sons and other unauthorized persons. During the searches, they also found 152 thousand dollars and 34 thousand euros.


He is suspected of illicit enrichment (Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and declaring false information (Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code). The issue of a preventive measure for him and seizure of his assets is being decided.
He faces up to 10 years in prison.
