President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi commented on the refusal of US President Joe Biden to further participate in re-election contests. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the President’s page on the social network Kh.
On Sunday, July 21, US President Joe Biden released a statement saying that he refuses to seek re-election for a second term as president.
“It has been my greatest honor to serve as your president. And while I intend to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and country that I step down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for part of my term, which remained”
- said the US president.
He also said that he will contact the citizens of the United States later this week with more details about his decision.

In the next post, he announced that instead of himself for the post of president of the United States, he is proposing vice president Kamala Harris.
“My first decision as the party’s nominee in 2020 was to choose Kamala Harris as my vice president. And it was the best decision I’ve ever made. Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be our party’s nominee this year .Democrats – it’s time to unite and defeat Trump, let’s do it.”
said Biden.
In his post, Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Biden for his steadfast support of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom. He emphasized that this support, along with strong and bipartisan support in the US, was and remains critical.
The President of Ukraine noted that many strong decisions have been made in recent years, which will be remembered as President Biden’s bold steps in response to difficult times.
“We respect today’s tough but strong decision. We will always be grateful for President Biden’s leadership.”
- noted Zelensky.
He emphasized that Biden supported Ukraine in the most difficult moments, helped prevent the occupation of the country by Putin and continued to support throughout the war.
At the end of the post, Zelenskyi added that the current situation in Ukraine and Europe remains difficult, and expressed the hope that the strong leadership of the United States will not allow Russian aggression to succeed or pay off.
We will remind, on July 17, US President Joe Biden was diagnosed with the coronavirus immediately after he announced that he could withdraw from the race due to illness.
This happened against the background of very active conversations about the fact that Biden is not ready for the next presidency due to the state of his own health, primarily mental. They stepped up after Biden’s debate with Trump, in which the incumbent looked very out of sorts in that context.
As reported, according to the AP-NORC survey, nearly two-thirds of Democrats believe that US President Joe Biden should withdraw from the presidential race and allow his party to nominate another candidate.
We will also remind that donors to the election campaign of US President Joe Biden announced the suspension of about 90 million dollars of their donations.
It should be noted that European allies of the United States are also concerned about the condition and age of President Joe Biden and doubt his ability to defeat former President Donald Trump.
