Zelensky names key topics for upcoming meeting with Trump in New York

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will travel to New York for the UN General Assembly. He will talk with American leader Donald Trump about security guarantees for Ukraine.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a conversation with journalists on September 19, an RBC-Ukraine correspondent reports, "Komersant Ukrainian".
He noted that a summit will be held on the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. As of today, there are 38 delegations ready to participate in the summit.
“There will also be a Crimean platform. We are also counting on about three dozen countries. Also in such a broad format. There will be a large number of bilateral meetings. Business, technology, defense, minerals. This will be united by a big economic meeting,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the head of state, there will probably be a meeting between the first ladies of Ukraine and the United States on a humanitarian issue, on children.
Negotiations with Trump
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that he would discuss security guarantees for Ukraine with Trump in New York.
“We have prepared a basis for security guarantees that Europe is ready to accept, taking into account that the United States will be close by. We have held many discussions, had a dialogue at various levels, including the leadership of our armies and general staffs with Europeans and Americans,” the president said.
Zelenskyy recalled that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer had met with the US President. It was agreed on what things Zelenskyy and Trump would discuss at a bilateral meeting in New York.
“I would like to get these signals for myself, how close we are to understanding that we will have the security guarantees from all partners that we need,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy’s visit to New York
As previously reported by the Foreign Ministry, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will lead the Ukrainian delegation to the UN General Assembly in New York.
Also, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that US President Donald Trump is likely to meet with Zelenskyy in the near future in New York, where the leaders will gather for the UN General Assembly.
As a reminder, the high-level week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly will run from September 23-29.
