Zelensky had a “very good conversation” with Trump: what the leaders discussed

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported on his phone conversation with US President Donald Trump. According to the Ukrainian leader, it was a “very good conversation,” during which the parties discussed key issues of security, support for Ukraine, and possible ways to achieve a lasting peace. The head of state wrote about this in his telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“Spoke with US President Donald Trump. A very good conversation. Thank you for your willingness to support Ukraine and continue to work together to stop the killings and establish a lasting and just peace,” Zelensky said.

Zelenskyy noted that Trump spoke about his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The Ukrainian leader emphasized the importance of good relations between the countries and the Alliance’s efforts to increase defense spending.

During the conversation, the presidents discussed the necessary means and solutions to strengthen the protection of people from Russian attacks and strengthen Ukraine’s position. Zelenskyy reiterated Kyiv’s readiness to “work as productively as possible” to achieve peace.

The leaders agreed to call more often and coordinate their steps in the future. Zelenskyy concluded his message with words of gratitude:

“Thank you, Mr. President! Thank you, America!”
