President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which they discussed new steps to increase economic pressure on Russia and create an effective format for protecting Ukrainian airspace. The Ukrainian president announced this on his Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
European leaders also joined the talks.
The main topics of the conversation
According to Zelenskyy, the call with Trump was long and full of details. The main focus was on how to bring real peace closer:
“We discussed various options, and the most important thing is pressure to force an end to the war with strong measures, including economic ones. The key to peace is to deprive the Russian war machine of money and resources,” the President emphasized.
Separately, he spoke about the maximum protection of Ukrainian skies. Zelenskyy noted that while peace has not yet come, Ukrainians should not live under the constant threat of attacks, and Russian missiles and drones cannot take lives.
“Ukraine has proposed to the United States to consider a special format to protect Ukrainian skies,” the President added.
US support and next steps
Zelenskyy thanked Trump for his support of the Ukrainian people and said that the parties had agreed to continue contacts and work on new joint initiatives.
