President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Maksym Kazban, commander of the United Assault Brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Luty”.
This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the official website of the President of Ukraine.
The soldier was honored for his courage and heroism while defending the country.
“For personal courage and heroism displayed in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people,” the document says.
Police Colonel Maksym Kazban was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the Order of the Golden Star.
The corresponding decree was signed by Zelenskyy on July 25.
Police Colonel Maksym Kazban has been resisting Russian aggression since the first days of the war. He has been serving since 2014, when he took part in combat operations in Donbas against pro-Russian militants.
After Russia’s full-scale invasion, Kazban performed combat missions as part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, including a high-profile operation to destroy enemy helicopters in Chornobaivka near Kherson.
In September 2024, Kazban became the head of the Interior Ministry’s assault brigade “Lyuty”, having previously served as the first deputy commander.
After the brigade was created, the officer voluntarily joined it.
