Teams from Ukraine, the United States, and Europe are to prepare proposals for security guarantees for Kyiv in the coming days.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on his Telegram channel following a conversation with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Dick Schof, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“We discussed security guarantees. Teams from Ukraine, the United States, and European partners are currently working on their architecture. All the developments will be ready in the coming days. We talked about how the Netherlands can increase its involvement in this process and help with security,” the Ukrainian leader wrote.
A few hours earlier, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsya said that the first draft of security guarantees for Ukraine could be prepared by the beginning of next week.
The United States believes that Europe should take the lead in providing security guarantees for Ukraine, CNN reported. At the same time, Washington does not rule out the possibility that American pilots could take part in patrolling Ukraine’s airspace. NATO says it will continue to strengthen the Ukrainian Armed Forces even after the war is over. In turn, Russia opposes any security guarantees that would pose a threat to Moscow.
