Zelensky answered whether he would run in the next presidential election

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he does not have a definite answer at this time, but did not rule out running for president again.

He said this during a conversation with journalists from Český rozhlas Plus, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to him, the final decision on this depends on how the war in Ukraine ends.

However, when asked by the interviewer for clarification, Zelensky replied that he sometimes thinks about running for president again.

Not long ago, Zelensky said he was ready for the presidential election if international partners could ensure security during the election. Zelensky is also ready for changes in election legislation during martial law and is awaiting proposals from parliament.

In addition, Zelensky instructed MPs to develop options for holding elections in Ukraine.

Incidentally, many technical developments regarding the elections are already in place — seven working groups at the Central Election Commission are working on them, and there are corresponding drafts in parliament. However, none of the documents are ready for consideration in the session hall due to the risk of turning the election issue into a political conflict.

According to the Constitution, the next parliamentary elections were to take place in Ukraine in the fall of 2023, and the presidential elections in March 2024.

However, Ukrainian law and the Constitution prohibit elections from being held under martial law.

But Ukraine’s Western allies have repeatedly hinted that they would like to see elections held despite the war.
