“Every day in relations with partners there should be a result for Ukraine,” the president emphasized.
Tomorrow, November 19, Zelenskyy will travel to Turkey. Negotiations are expected there to intensify diplomatic processes and a number of solutions that the Ukrainian side will offer to its partners.
Separately, the President emphasized that the return of prisoners remains a priority for Ukraine.
“We are preparing to intensify negotiations, and we have developed solutions that we will offer to our partners. We are doing our best to bring the end of the war closer – this is Ukraine’s first priority. We are also working to resume exchanges and the return of prisoners,” Zelenskyy said.
Ukraine and Russia to resume prisoner exchange
National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine and Russia will resume the exchange of prisoners. Currently, our country is expected to release 1200 Ukrainians from Russian captivity.
“On the instructions of the President of Ukraine, these days I have held consultations with the mediation of partners in Turkey and the United Arab Emirates on the resumption of the exchange process and the release of our people from Russian captivity,” Umerov wrote.
He said that as a result of these talks, the parties agreed to activate the Istanbul agreements. Technical consultations will be held in the near future.
“We are talking about the release of 1,200 Ukrainians. Technical consultations will be held in the near future. They should consolidate all procedural and organizational issues,” added the NSDC Secretary.
Umerov also emphasized that the work is going on without pauses, “so that the Ukrainians who are to return from captivity can celebrate the New Year and Christmas holidays at home – at the family table and with their relatives.”
