President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed his readiness to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to discuss ending the war in Ukraine. Zelensky said this in an evening video address, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“We need a real ceasefire. We need a real end to the war. Ukraine is ready to meet at the highest level – this is the level of decisions. I am ready to meet in any format with those who make decisions and who have the appropriate authority, including Putin, even though he has outstayed his constitutional mandate for at least three terms,” the head of state said.
He added that “it is desirable to end the war in this term of President Trump.”
Zelenskyy emphasized that he was counting on the US leader’s help and influence.
“This is something that can help. We need sanctions. Diplomacy is needed. We need security,” the Ukrainian president said.
Before that, Putin said he was ready to meet with Zelenskyy, but would not sign any documents because he did not consider the Ukrainian president “legitimate.”
