President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on his Telegram channel that he had held phone conversations with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
The Head of State thanked both politicians for their support and discussed the diplomatic situation and contacts with partners. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to work “as productively as possible” for “real peace”: it and its partners need a real end to hostilities and reliable security guarantees.
“Pedro and I share the same view: the voice of Europe must be taken into account. We agree on our common European position,” Zelensky wrote.
During both conversations, he called for preventing Russia from imposing its unrealistic conditions on anyone.
In his conversation with Sanchez, the President of Ukraine also touched upon the country’s European integration path. According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has fulfilled all its obligations and is ready to open the first negotiation stage.
Prior to that, the head of state said that the Constitution of Ukraine excludes any territorial concessions. He rejected the idea of a “land swap” with Russia, which had been proposed earlier by the US president. The Ukrainian president made this statement against the backdrop of the upcoming meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska on August 15. It remains to be seen whether Zelenskyy will join these talks.
