On Saturday, October 4, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed new sanctions packages against Russia.

This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the evening video address of the head of state.

According to Zelensky, the new sanctions cover various areas. In particular:

  • the first decree is an extension of the expired sanctions. The restrictions apply to Russian entrepreneurs and their ties to the Putin system.
  • the second decree covers the Russian military industry, namely, manufacturers of drones and components.
  • the third decree includes Ukrainian sanctions against individuals and companies associated with the Russian oil sector.

“We continue our comprehensive policy of pressure on Russia. We will continue to coordinate this with our partners. Already, many Ukrainian developments form the basis of our partners’ sanctions. We expect to synchronize our sanctions with our partners,” the President said.

The Head of State also noted that Ukraine was expecting the 19th package of sanctions from the EU and the corresponding steps of the United States.

The President emphasized that Russia ignores or rejects literally every opportunity that would end the war and guarantee security. According to Zelenskyy, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin wants to fight, and to fight with “terrorist methods, vile methods.”

“Russia must feel the response to this. Europe, America, G7, G20 have the power to deal with any terrorist. It will happen. I thank everyone who helps to protect lives,” the Head of State summarized.
