Zelensky changed the composition of the Staff: who left

Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk was removed from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff. The corresponding decree was signed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the president’s website.

On the evening of May 12, Presidential Decree No. 304/2025 “On Changes to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff” was made public. The document refers to the decision to remove Havryliuk from the Staff.

It also states that Zelenskyy’s decree was adopted “in accordance with Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Defense of Ukraine’, based on the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.”

It is also noted that this decree comes into force on the day of its publication (May 12).

What is known about Ivan Havryliuk?

Ivan Havryliuk is a native of Zhytomyr region and a career military officer. He has worked his way up from a platoon commander in a security battalion to senior management positions.

From 2013 to 2014, Havryliuk was the chief of the rear of the army corps department, and later the chief of the rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From 2018 to 2020, he was the head of the Main Logistics Directorate – Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2020, he was discharged from military service in the reserve. From 2020 to 2022, he worked as an advisor to the Commander of the Logistics Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

on February 24, 2022, he was enlisted for military service during mobilization and appointed Head of the Communications and Information Systems Department of the Headquarters of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In April-August 2022, he was the head of the Ukrainian working group at the coordination center for assistance in Germany.

From September 2022 to October 2023, Havryliuk was Deputy Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Defense. In the same year, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense, and on May 17, 2024, he was appointed First Deputy.

The Minister of Defense noted that the most important tasks for Havryliuk are the development of the Defense Forces’ weapons and military equipment, the re-profiling of the Ukrainian defense industry to NATO nomenclature, and close cooperation with partner countries.
