on February 18, 2025, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his wife Olena Zelenska plan to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement by the head of the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidential Administration, Fahrettin Altun.
“Our president will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will visit our country on Tuesday, February 18, at the Presidential Palace. During the talks, the strategic partnership between Turkey and Ukraine in all aspects will be reviewed and steps to further strengthen relations between the two countries will be discussed,” Fahrettin Altun wrote in his social media post .
The head of the Turkish Presidential Communications Office added that during the visit, the two leaders will also pay attention to “the latest developments in Ukraine” and other global issues in the region.

Specific details of the upcoming meeting, including topics of discussion and possible agreements, have not yet been disclosed. However, it is known that humanitarian issues and the exchange of prisoners are high on the agenda.
It is known that this meeting is part of the Ukrainian delegation’s official visit to the region, which also includes trips to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. The main topics of the talks will be humanitarian programs and the exchange of prisoners.
Earlier, on February 14, 2025, while talking to journalists at the Munich Security Conference, Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed his upcoming visits and stressed that he did not plan to meet with Russian representatives during these trips. He noted that the order of meetings to resolve the conflict should be as follows: first, negotiations with the United States, then with Europe, and only then with Russia.
It is also worth noting that Zelenskyy’s meeting with Erdogan takes place against the backdrop of the planned talks between US and Russian officials to be held on February 18 in Saudi Arabia. However, the Ukrainian side is not invited to these talks, which raises concerns about Ukraine’s role in the conflict resolution process. Zelenskyy emphasized that he learned about the upcoming talks from media reports and does not plan to meet with Russian or American representatives during his visits to the region.
