Horror in Kyiv: a rocket went through the entire house – from the roof to the basement

On the night of June 17, Kyiv came under massive attack from Russian drones and missiles. The worst hit came in the Solomyansky district of the capital – a missile hit a 9-story residential building and literally pierced it through, destroying all floors to the basement. Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that at least 14 people were killed in the attack, and 44 others were wounded, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Attack on Kyiv: dozens of locations under attack
The Russians used 175 drones, more than 14 cruise missiles and at least 2 ballistic missiles in Kyiv and the city’s outskirts.
Footage of a Shahed hitting one of the capital’s high-rise buildings was also posted online.
According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 27 impact sites have been recorded in Kyiv, and rescue services are working on them. Among them are residential buildings, educational institutions, and critical infrastructure facilities.
About 2,000 people are working at the sites of the tragedies, including rescuers, police, doctors and utility workers.
“Rescuers have managed to unblock people from entrances, apartments and from under the rubble. All emergency services are on the ground, please observe restrictive measures. I personally control the progress of rescue operations,” emphasized Klymenko.
A large number of rescue equipment has been deployed to eliminate the aftermath of the strike.
“This includes medical equipment and rescue equipment,” the minister said.
Aviation is also working.
“Two helicopters of the State Emergency Service are involved in extinguishing fires,” he said at the site of the destroyed building in Kyiv.
Ballistic attack on a residential building
According to preliminary data, the occupants used a ballistic missile that hit a 9-storey residential building in Solomyansky district. The force of the explosion caused the structure to collapse vertically – the missile penetrated all floors to the basement.
“A ballistic missile hit a 9-story building in Kyiv. The entire entrance was destroyed. And it was destroyed down to the basement because it was a direct hit,” said the Interior Minister.
Preliminary results: at least 14 dead
As of the morning, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 14 people were killed and 60 others were injured. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the number of victims may unfortunately increase.
Doctors are providing assistance to all the victims, some residents were quickly evacuated, but people may still be trapped under the rubble.
In general, the number of victims of the Russian attack in Ukraine has increased:
- 14 people were killed in Kyiv and 60 were wounded,
- in Odesa – 1 person was killed and 10 wounded
- 1 person was injured in Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
