Women in business: how the structure of company management is changing in Ukraine

As of November 1, 2024, there were almost 236 thousand women-led businesses in Ukraine. This is 36.2% of the total number of active companies, which is 1% more than in 2023. This is reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
Women leaders in various fields
According to the State Statistics Service, most women leaders work in education, culture, and social services. In particular, 99% of preschools are headed by women, and in the library sector, this figure reaches 93%.
Women are also more likely to run businesses:
- Consumer cooperatives – 58.6%
- Public authorities – 56.2%; and
- Local government – 52%
- Utility companies – 79%
- Trade unions – 62%
- Credit unions – 54%
Geography of women’s leadership
By region, the largest number of women leaders is concentrated in:
- Kyiv – 41 thousand.
- Dnipropetrovska oblast – more than 19 thousand
- Odesa region – more than 14 thousand.
