Women doctors will be automatically registered for military service: Cabinet of Ministers’ decision
31 July 01:32
Women with a medical or pharmaceutical degree will now be automatically registered for military service without their personal presence. This was announced by Taras Melnychuk, a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, on his Telegram channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
According to him, amendments have been made to the Procedure for Organizing and Maintaining Military Registration of Conscripts, Persons Liable for Military Service and Reservists, the Regulation on Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers, and the Procedure for Conscripting Citizens for Military Service during Mobilization and for a Special Period.
According to the resolution, women with a medical degree will be automatically registered in the military without the need for their personal presence at territorial recruitment and social support centers.
Such a mechanism should simplify the procedure and reduce the bureaucratic burden on women and the relevant services.
Women in Ukraine are mobilized only on a voluntary basis, but registration is mandatory for medical professionals
In Ukraine, women can join the Armed Forces only on their own free will. There is no compulsory mobilization of women, and military contracts with the Armed Forces are concluded only on a voluntary basis.
There is also no ban on women traveling abroad.
At the same time, military registration is mandatory for women who have received a medical degree, including doctors, pharmacists, dentists, and nurses. Regardless of whether they work in their specialty or not, these women must obtain a military registration document.
In May 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers abolished the rule that allowed women doctors and pharmacists to be employed without military registration until the end of 2026. Since then, all women with a medical or pharmaceutical education are required to apply to the territorial recruitment center (TCC) at their place of residence and register for military service if they are employed.
