Law enforcement officers in France have detained two criminals who robbed the world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris.
This was reported by Le Figaro, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the publication, two criminals involved in this high-profile robbery were detained on Saturday evening.
One of them was detained at Roissy airport when he was about to board a flight to Algeria.
The operation was carried out at around 10 p.m. by the Brigade de Bruisance de la Banditie (BRB), the brigade in charge of the investigation, with the support of border police officers.
The second offender was detained by the Paris judicial police in Saint-Denis.
According to the newspaper, eight jewels of the French royal family, worth 88 million euros, have not been found as of Sunday morning.
Immediately after this high-profile robbery, which exposed the failure of the security system of the world’s most famous museum, Interior Minister Laurent Nunes expressed confidence in the speedy resolution of the case.
On the morning of October 19, the Louvre was attacked by robbers who entered the Apollo Gallery and stole nine pieces of jewelry. The crown of Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, has already been recovered; the piece was found broken in the street.
