Changes in the telethon: “UA:PBC to broadcast on a separate channel

As part of the Unified News #Uarazom marathon, Public Broadcasting will produce its own part of the information marathon, which will be broadcast on the national TV channel Pershyi. This is stated in a statement by UA: PBC, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Starting from 21 May, Public Broadcasting will enhance the information block of the marathon on Channel One with additional content from Suspilne News, Suspilne. Studio, in-house produced documentaries and investigations, as well as the exchange of content with all participants of the United News #Uarazom marathon will continue.
“The Suspilne team is expanding the production of its own content on the First Channel as an integral part of the United News #Ukraine together telethon. We are ready to maximise our broadcasting, share high-quality documentaries, regional stories, topical investigations and use the capabilities of the largest network of correspondents in Ukraine across the country,”
– said Mykola Chernotytskyi, Chairman of the Board of Public Broadcasting.
The participants of the marathon signed an additional agreement to the Memorandum of Cooperation and Cooperation to implement a new approach to expand the possibilities of implementing a unified information policy of Ukraine under martial law and ensure the round-the-clock information marathon “United News #UArazom” on 30 May 2022.
“In my opinion, this is a civilised ‘divorce’ that was achieved as part of the expansion of content production. We have received written guarantees from the National Security and Defence Council that we will not violate the decision of the Security Council. The Suspilne team is ready to resume round-the-clock broadcasting on the First Channel. I hope we will succeed,”
– said Svitlana Ostapa, the chair of the Supervisory Board of UA:PBC, in a comment to Detector Media.
Negotiations are currently underway regarding the possible exchange of content between UA:PBC and commercial channels participating in the United News. Currently, commercial broadcasters will not broadcast UA:PBC content.
At the same time, the United News #Uarazom marathon is transforming and improving the marathon grid and expanding the list of new products. For example, on weekends, viewers will be able to watch the special edition of “Morning Marathon” in the morning slots.
At the start of the full-scale invasion, the largest commercial broadcasters, Rada TV channel and Suspilne TV, joined forces to create a round-the-clock news marathon called United News.
It should be noted that the TV channels participating in the United News telethon have been recognised as critical to the functioning of the economy and the life of the population during this special period. This status implies that the telethon’s employees receive mobilisation reservations. The relevant orders are published on the website of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
