“Winter support”: who will receive how much from the state

In December, Ukraine will launch a new “winter support” package for Ukrainians. Citizens will be able to receive from 1,000 to 6,500 hryvnias to spend on various needs.
This was stated by the Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing his comments during a telethon.
“We are ready to submit a draft act on support at the next government meeting,” he said.
According to the minister, we are talking about a one-time assistance in the amount of UAH 6,500. In particular
- for families with children;
- for families with children under guardianship;
- family-type orphanages and children from low-income families;
- iDPs with disability group I and single pensioners can also receive the money.
“These 6,500 hryvnias can be spent on food, medicine, warm clothes and utilities,” said Ulyutin.
He also added that all citizens who apply in December will be allocated UAH 1,000, which can be used for a wider range of goods and services according to the list, which is similar to the previous year. In this case, the money will be available for travel expenses, medicines, and other areas.
Mr. Ulyutin also said that on November 1, a program was launched to provide compensation for 100 kW of electricity for people living in the frontline areas.
“This is 100 kW per person or 300 kW per family. In addition, there is a one-time support program for the purchase of solid fuel for people in the frontline areas or other beneficiaries,” he summarized.
Winter support program for Ukrainians
On November 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to prepare a comprehensive winter support program that will take effect in December.
“I have instructed the government to finalize the preparation of this winter support in the coming weeks and present the details of the package by November 15 so that people can start using it,” the president said in a video address.
On the evening of November 1, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said that the Cabinet of Ministers had already identified priority areas and components of the program.
