Bezuhla to block Rada until Syrsky is released: the country has no time

9 December 2025 12:53

MP Mariana Bezuhla announced the resumption of her strike in the Verkhovna Rada and issued an ultimatum: The Verkhovna Rada will not consider any draft law until the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi is dismissed. She wrote about this in her public address, sharply criticizing the state of the defense department, political decisions of the authorities and the lack of real military reforms, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

What was the reason: corruption scandals, Yermak’s resignation and “stopping reforms”

Bezuhla explains that her decision is a reaction to the stagnation in public administration after high-profile corruption scandals and the dismissal of Andriy Yermak. She claims that no systemic decisions have been made since then, and important processes have been blocked.

The MP writes:

“After the corruption scandals and Yermak’s dismissal, nothing is happening now. The President has not made a decision on what to do with the OP and who will continue to lead it. The anti-corruption agencies have stopped publishing ‘tapes’ and do not issue suspicions.”

Among her claims is the preservation of Umerov’s influence:

“Umerov continues to be the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council and, after Yermak, became the head of the negotiation group. All of Andriy Borisovich’s people remain in office.”

Bezuhla’s main demand is to dismiss Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Syryskyi

The deputy focuses on the failure of military reforms and mistakes in the management of the front. According to her, this is why she is blocking the parliament:

“I have decided to resume my strike and block ALL the activities of the Parliament in the hall until Syrsky is fired.”

She elaborates on why she considers his work unacceptable:

  • “the chaos at the front continues, the Russians are advancing;
  • there is no revision of battle management;
  • there is no reform of mobilization, terms of service, or reduction of headquarters;
  • Air defense has critical problems;
  • more than a million military reservists and hundreds of thousands of “attached” soldiers are behind the front;
  • tens of thousands on the front line without rotations.

In her address, she sharply stated:

“As long as Syrskyi and his jesters are in office, military reform is impossible!”

How the blockade of the parliament will look like

The MP announced that she would use all regulatory tools to stop the work of the Verkhovna Rada:

“Blocking the rostrum, amendments for confirmation, procedures – everything. Every draft law that will be submitted for consideration will not be considered, but at least will be broken into pieces, UNTIL Syrsky is fired.”

This means the actual possibility of paralyzing the legislative work of the state.

Criticism of the defense sector: what exactly, according to Bezuhla, is working wrong

In her statement, she lists a number of problems that the government allegedly ignores:

  • Air defense allows Russian drones to pass through unclosed corridors.
  • There is no military justice, and anti-corruption activities in the army are minimal.
  • Military regulations and key laws have not been changed.
  • There is no real military reform, and the government and parliament have “calmed down”.

The MP emphasizes:

“The war is on, and the US attempts to get rid of us and force us to surrender should not confuse us: the priority, basis, defense and future of Ukraine is full militarization and military reform.”

Appeal to colleagues in the Rada and to the President

Bezuhla calls on other MPs “not to hide”:

“Everyone knows the military and what is really happening in the Armed Forces. Are you ready to continue to hide from advocating for real change?”

She addressed the President as follows:

“Vladimir Alexandrovich, listen. You cannot systematically ignore what is happening to the country’s defense!”

She also reminded that she had never supported the appointment of Syrsky:

“I have never supported Syrskyi for the post of Chief of the Armed Forces and I wrote openly about it a month before the appointment.”

on December 2, the session of the Verkhovna Rada ended as soon as it began, as European Solidarity blocked the rostrum. As a result, Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk adjourned the session. The work of the Verkhovna Rada in the parliamentary hall had already been completed that day.

on September 18, Bezuhla disrupted a closed meeting of the National Security Committee.

Oleksandr Syrskyi

Oleksandr Syrskyi has been the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine since February 2024. He replaced Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.

  • Rank: Colonel General (since August 2020).
  • Awards: Hero of Ukraine (awarded in March 2022 for the successful defense of Kyiv).

As Kommersant Ukrayinsky wrote, earlier the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky visited the Pokrovske direction and emphasized that this particular section of the front is key to the enemy’s plans.

Earlier it was reported that MP Mariana Bezuhla disrupted a closed meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Bezuhla’s statements are often used by Russian propagandists, and she often gives them reasons to do so. In particular, because of her “attacks” on the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. In fact, she directly called on her social media to replace the commander-in-chief.
