More than 700 settlements in 7 regions were left without electricity due to bad weather

As a result of the severe weather that hit the western and central regions of Ukraine at night, 701 settlements were left without electricity. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the State Emergency Service.

“As of 07:00 on July 8, according to Ukrenergo, 701 settlements were cut off from electricity due to deteriorating weather conditions (wind gusts and rains),” the report says.

Strong wind gusts and intense precipitation were recorded, which caused accidents on power lines and damage to infrastructure.

Where are the most power outages?

Settlements in the following regions were left without electricity:

  • Lviv – 206 settlements
  • Volyn – 172 settlements
  • Zakarpattia – 133
  • Vinnytsia – 66 settlements
  • Ternopil – 66
  • Ivano-Frankivsk – 63
  • Rivne – 61

In some regions, the bad weather also caused damage to residential buildings. Thus, according to the SES, roofs were destroyed or partially torn off:

  • 100 houses in Rivne region
  • in Zakarpattia region – 50,
  • in Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1.

The relief efforts are ongoing

To clear roads and remove fallen trees, rescuers have been carrying out ice-clearing operations.

Power company crews are working to restore electricity supply and repair damage to power lines.
