Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko has denied rumors that blackouts will return, calling it a temporary phenomenon due to breakdowns in generation facilities. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Novosti.Live.
“Restrictions for business (those introduced on November 13 – ed.) are temporary and caused by internal breakdowns. No outages have returned. This is a temporary phenomenon. Unfortunately, generation facilities that have been restored can break down. This is exactly what happened. All these breakdowns will be repaired and the situation will return to normal,” said Galushchenko.
What Herman Galushchenko said about the state of the energy system in Ukraine
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine emphasized that the threat of hostile attacks on nuclear energy facilities and critical infrastructure remains relevant. However, Ukraine, together with international partners, including the IAEA, is working to maximize the protection of nuclear energy facilities from enemy attacks.
In addition, Ukrainian power engineers have gained a unique experience of resilience over almost three years of full-scale invasion and unprecedented attacks on energy infrastructure in world history.
Galushchenko also said that the Energy Ministry expects to increase equipment supplies and technical assistance from international partners in the winter.
“Thanks to the support of our partners, we managed to prepare for the autumn-winter period with high quality. The power engineers approved all scheduled repairs and prepared equipment in time, and were able to restore part of the infrastructure destroyed by Russia. We are grateful for this support, but we expect that in winter, during the most difficult period, the volume of technical and financial assistance to our power system will increase,” said the head of the relevant ministry.
Galushchenko said that the Russian shelling is prompting Ukraine to switch to alternative energy sources as soon as possible. He reminded that wind power plants have already been launched near the front line. According to the minister, this type of generation has significant potential.
