State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control has a new temporary head: Cabinet of Ministers dismisses Isaenko

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dismissed Roman Isaenko from the post of Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control. The government adopted the relevant order on January 7, 2026, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

The Cabinet of Ministers’ order states that the decision was made in accordance with paragraph 3 of part one of Article 87 of the Law of Ukraine “On Public Service,” which provides for the dismissal of an official in the event of a negative assessment based on the results of an annual evaluation.

The reason for the dismissal was a negative assessment of his performance in 2025.

“To dismiss Roman Mykolayovych Isaenko from the position of head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control in connection with receiving a negative assessment based on the results of the performance evaluation in 2025 (paragraph 3 of part one of Article 87 of the Law of Ukraine “On Public Service”),” the order states.

Who will temporarily head the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drug Control

At the same time, the government issued a separate order temporarily assigning the duties of the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control to Volodymyr Korolenko.

He will perform the duties of head until a decision is made on the appointment of a new head of the service.

What is known about Isaenko’s dismissal

Earlier it was reported that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine conducted searches at the central office of the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control. After that, the Cabinet of Ministers opened disciplinary proceedings against Roman Isaenko.

In addition, in February 2025, Isaenko became the subject of a journalistic investigation by Bihus.Info. According to journalists, almost immediately after its registration, the private laboratory Dobrobut-Lykilab began to receive a large number of orders from the State Service of Ukraine on Medicines and Drugs Control to test medicines. Investigators suggested that the company could be linked to the entourage of the then head of the service.

Roman Isaienko was appointed head of the State Service of Ukraine for Medicines and Drug Control in 2024.

The service is responsible for quality control of medicines and medical devices, as well as for regulating the circulation of narcotic and psychotropic substances in Ukraine.
