The Cabinet of Ministers will allocate UAH 3 billion for patching roads: where they plan to repair the roads
5 March 03:35
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will allocate an additional 3 billion hryvnias from the reserve fund of the state budget for patching up roads. The funds will be used to repair the most problematic sections of state roads, particularly in frontline regions. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery Oleksiy Kuleba and Head of the State Agency for Infrastructure Recovery and Development Serhiy Sukhomlyn, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
What will the 3 billion hryvnia be spent on?
The government plans to use the funds for patching public roads of national importance with high traffic intensity.
Priority will also be given to roads in frontline regions, which are subject to increased traffic due to military logistics and evacuation routes.
According to Svyrydenko, this is not a major reconstruction, but rather an operational repair that should ensure:
- safe traffic
- passability of roads
- a reduction in accidents.
Where repairs have already begun
Work has already started on international and national highways.
First and foremost, road workers are working on sections where:
- there is significant transit traffic;
- humanitarian aid routes pass;
- military logistics are carried out.
The government plans to complete the main work by June 1.
Why repairs are being carried out now
After winter, many roads were significantly damaged due to temperature fluctuations, heavy traffic, and limited opportunities for full repairs during the war.
Therefore, patch repairs should be a temporary solution to maintain the transport infrastructure until the country is able to carry out large-scale reconstruction.
The government notes that maintaining the road network is important not only for the economy but also for logistics during the war and traffic safety.
