China may ask Russia to attack NATO – Rutte

NATO chief Mark Rutte did not rule out that Russia could attack the alliance’s territory at China’s request.
“If China decides to use force against Taiwan, Chinese leader Xi Jinping may ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to distract Europeans from the situation in the Indo-Pacific region by attacking NATO territory,” he explained in an interview with The New York Times.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to Rutte, the likelihood of such a scenario is growing. In this regard, he noted that two main steps are needed to contain Beijing and Moscow. One of them is related to the collective strengthening of the Western alliance, “so that the Russians will never attack.” Rutte called the second mandatory measure joint work with the Indo-Pacific region in the field of defense industry and innovation. Such cooperation is being actively promoted by the US administration led by President Donald Trump, Rutte said.
“We are facing a huge geopolitical challenge. First and foremost, it is Russia, which is recovering at a speed that is unparalleled in recent history. They are now producing three times more munitions in three months than all NATO members produce in a year,” the alliance’s secretary general said.
China declares a neutral position in Russia’s war against Ukraine and calls for peace. At the same time, China continues active contacts with Moscow. The leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, met many times and signed a strategic partnership agreement without restrictions in February 2022, less than three weeks before Russia launched
the war against Ukraine. China is Russia’s largest trading partner, helping it to overcome the effects of Western economic sanctions.
