Carrots are becoming cheaper: what is happening with prices in Ukraine
6 March 15:23
According to daily monitoring by EastFruit, this week the Ukrainian root vegetable market saw a decline in carrot prices, which was due to the start of active sales of products from storage facilities, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
This week, Ukrainian farmers are offering carrots at an average of 11% cheaper than a week earlier. Shipments are currently being made at prices of 8–14 UAH/kg ($0.18–0.32/kg) depending on the quality and volume of the batches.
According to producers, the negative impact on prices is caused by an increase in the supply of medium and low-quality carrots. By the beginning of spring 2026, the quality of these vegetables in storage had deteriorated significantly, forcing farmers to sell off their existing stocks. At the same time, market participants note that owners of high-quality carrots who have no storage problems prefer to suspend sales.
It should be noted that today, carrot prices in Ukraine are already 64% lower on average than at the beginning of March 2025. At the same time, most market players do not rule out further stagnation in this segment, which is associated with fairly low trading activity.
