National Bank announces date of release of coin for Unmanned Systems Forces

The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation a new commemorative coin “Forces of Unmanned Systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, which continues the “Armed Forces of Ukraine” series and symbolizes the technological superiority of the Ukrainian army. This was reported by the press service of the NBU, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
To the Day of Defenders of Ukraine
The coin was presented on the eve of the national holiday by NBU Deputy Governor Oleksiy Shaban and acting Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Major Oleksandr Tarasenko.
According to the NBU, the coin is intended to honor the military who are at the forefront of technology – those who operate unmanned systems that help Ukraine gain an advantage in the war.
“The Unmanned Systems Forces are the youngest branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, created in 2024 after a strategic rethinking of defense principles. Their creation was another step towards the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the establishment of a new military culture where intelligence and technology determine the advantage. In a short time, the soldiers of the Unmanned Systems Forces have proved that youth is not about inexperience, but about courage and determination that allow you to stay ahead of the aggressor,” said Oleksiy Shaban.
Major Oleksandr Tarasenko emphasized that the soldiers of this unit make up only 3% of the total number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but are able to hit every third target on the battlefield.
What the new coin looks like
The circulating commemorative coin has a face value of 10 hryvnias and is made of a zinc-based alloy with a nickel coating.
The obverse is identical to the standard 10 hryvnia coin of 2018: in the center is the state emblem, the year of minting, and an ornament.
The reverse is decorated with the emblem of the Unmanned Systems Forces – a stylized steel swallow symbolizing speed, technology and flexibility. In the background are air currents, and below is the motto of the unit: “Our weapon is the mind”.
The design was created by artist Tetiana Baluta and sculptor Volodymyr Demianenko.
Where to buy and when the sale will start
The “Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” coin is mandatory for acceptance in all types of cash payments.
The National Bank will gradually put about 10 million pieces into circulation.
In addition, part of the mintage will be issued in souvenir rolls of 25 coins in a special design with the steel swallow emblem.
Start date: from October 2, 2025, the coin will be available for purchase in the NBU’s online numismatic products store (12 thousand rollers) and in distributor banks.
