National Police is critically short of electronic tracking bracelets, but they are not purchased – Transparency International

The National Police has only 150 working electronic bracelets for tracking suspects across the country. This was reported by the National Police in response to a request from Transparency International, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
In total, the National Police has 300 such devices on its balance sheet, but only 150 are in good working order. The situation is particularly acute in Kyiv, where there are only 20 working bracelets.
121 electronic bracelets are either faulty or under repair. And 29 bracelets are lost somewhere.

According to TI, this shortage negatively affects the work of law enforcement agencies such as NABU. For example, a judge decided to remove a bracelet from Artur Samilyak, the former head of a department at the Zakarpattia City Council, because he did not have a device available.
Since the beginning of 2024, the High Anti-Corruption Court has issued 168 decisions on preventive measures, half of which involved the use of bracelets. This means that 80-90 bracelets were needed to enforce these decisions.
Despite this, the National Police last purchased electronic bracelets back in 2019, while its vehicle fleet is regularly updated – 30 cars worth almost UAH 43 million were purchased in the last six months alone, according to Transparency International.
