Poland’s richest woman, patron and volunteer Dominika Kulczyk has joined the “Ciepło z Polski dla Kijowa” (“Warmth from Poland for Kyiv”) campaign organized by Stand With Ukraine and is donating PLN 500,000 for generators for Ukraine. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Onet.pl.
The situation in Kyiv remains extremely critical due to regular Russian strikes on energy infrastructure and severe frosts: about 70% of the capital’s residents live without electricity and heating.
In response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, Polish businesses and philanthropists have stepped up their efforts to raise money for generators and power stations for the city.
Support for Kyiv is growing in Poland: the goal is PLN 2 million
The public campaign “Ciepło z Polski dla Kijowa” (“Warmth from Poland for Kyiv”), organized by Stand With Ukraine in cooperation with several Polish foundations and public initiatives, aims to purchase generators and power sources for the Ukrainian capital.
The initial plan to raise PLN 400,000 was revised due to its popularity, and the goal was raised to PLN 2 million.
At the time of publication, over PLN 1.3 million had already been raised.
500,000 PLN from Polenergia and the Dominika Kulczyk Foundation
Particular attention was drawn to the contribution of PLN 500,000 to be made by Dominika Kulczyk together with Polenergia and the Kulczyk Foundation. These funds will enable the purchase of 120 additional generators, which will provide light, heat, and the ability to charge devices for thousands of people in the capital.
In comments to the Polish media, Dominika Kulczyk called on the energy industry to unite in support of Kyiv during the winter:
“The residents of Kyiv are struggling not only with the cold, but also with feelings of loneliness. Warmth from Poland can be not only energy for them, but also a sign that the world remembers them,” she emphasized.
Kulczyk added that each generator is not just a source of energy, but a chance for people to warm their children, cook a hot meal, and stay in touch with their loved ones, and called on Polish energy companies to join the initiative.
