Grass, flowers and trees under the snow: winter has returned to Ukraine

On Friday, May 9, parts of Ukraine – in particular, Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions – were covered with heavy snow. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to social media, where Ukrainians posted relevant photos and videos.
Thus, a resident of Chernivtsi showed what her neighborhood looks like on May 9.
The date is 09.05.2025. The time is 8:05. And we have spring snow!” she wrote.
The woman also showed the flowers near the house. You can see that red tulips and another ornamental plant with lilac flowers are covered with a layer of snow.
The famous Ukrainian ski resort of Yaremche is also covered with snow.
“Snow, like sadness, on green leaves,” the locals captioned the photo.
As of 09:00 on May 9, there was fog and snow in the Zaroslyak tract. The wind is southwest at 3-5 m/s, the air temperature is -1°C.
This is a high-altitude sports resort near the town of Vorokhta, Ivano-Frankivsk region.
In the city of Mukachevo, Zakarpattia region, snow also covered the neighborhood.
What forecasters say about the weather on May 9
Forecaster Natalia Didenko says that on May 9, a cyclone will form over the southern part of Ukraine. It and its atmospheric fronts caused rainy weather in most regions of Ukraine and snow in the Carpathians.
In the west, north and a large part of the central regions of Ukraine, the thermometer reads 10…14 degrees. In the southern part of the country, the air temperature remains at 12… 16 degrees. In Zaporizhzhia region – up to 18 degrees, and in Crimea – 17-20 degrees. In the eastern regions, the thermometer shows 16… 21 degrees.
The weather forecaster predicts that wet weather will continue to dominate in Ukraine, with nights still cold and does not rule out the possibility of frosts when it clears. But during the day it will warm up at least a few degrees.
