Political analyst reveals possible strategy for Democrats after Biden’s debate failure

Joe Biden ‘s failure in the debate with Donald Trump makes his further election campaign virtually meaningless, but replacing the candidate could prove to be an effective measure for the Democratic Party. This opinion was expressed by political analyst Volodymyr Tsybulko in an exclusive commentary to Komersant ukrainskyi 
.
He argues that the Democratic Party definitely has strong candidates to replace Biden.
“The Democrats have a backup candidate, the governor of California, who has a track record of electoral victories. Given the economic power and the number of voters in California, this is a strong candidate.”
Gavin Newsom is an American Democratic politician who has served as Governor of California since 2019. Prior to that, he was the mayor of San Francisco (2004-2011) and the lieutenant governor of California (2011-2019). Newsom is known for his support of same-sex marriage, legalisation of marijuana, and the fight against climate change. He has an impressive fortune, estimated at around $20 million. His business empire began with the opening of the PlumpJack Wine Shop in 1992, which later grew into the PlumpJack Group, a company that operates wine shops, restaurants, hotels and wineries. Newsome transferred control of his business assets to a blind trust.
Tsybulko notes that Biden’s fatigue at the debate could have been temporary, but admits:
“For successful work in a country as complex as the United States, it probably makes no sense for Biden to run for office anymore.”
The expert recalls the mechanism of the vice presidency, which can insure the situation, but considers the current vice president, Kamala Harris, to be “an unsuccessful personnel option”. However, the political scientist believes that replacing the candidate now may indeed be a good move for the Democratic Party.
“A weak Biden is a sign of Trump’s immutability. And the possibility of replacing the Democratic candidate allows for a manoeuvre that will help them win not only the presidential election, but also the fight for both houses of Congress.”
Following Joe Biden ‘s unsuccessful performance in the debate with Donald Trump, the US Democratic Party has been discussing the possibility of replacing the candidate in the presidential election. Polls show that 72% of Americans doubt Biden’s mental health for the presidency.
