Oleh Makarov, MP from “Holos”, died: what is known

Oleh Makarov, a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the ninth convocation who was elected to the Verkhovna Rada from the Golos party, has died. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the press service of the Verkhovna Rada.

Makarov was the secretary of the Rada Committee on Legal Policy.

The deputy was 59 years old. The cause of his death is unknown.

The MP’s fellow party members reacted to the news of his death. Yaroslav Zheleznyak called him “the wisest of us” and thanked him for his advice and help.

“Today, our colleague Oleh Makarov left us. Oleg Anatolyevich, you were the wisest of us. Thank you for your advice and constant help. We will all miss you very much,” Zheleznyak wrote.

Danylo Hetmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, wrote that he had known Oleh Makarov since 1999.

“I have known Oleh Makarov since 1999, when I lost my first case in the Kyiv City Commercial Court. Then, now, and forever, Oleg will remain for me a model of a professional, a lawyer, a politician who, despite everything, remained a decent person,” Hetmantsev said.

What is known about Oleg Makarov

Oleg Makarov was born on July 24, 1965 in Kyiv.

He is a litigation lawyer, managing partner of a law firm, head of its legal department, a member of the Kyiv City Council of the VIII convocation and a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the 9th convocation from the Golos party. He has been working as a managing partner of the law firm since 1992.

In 2007, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Kyiv City Qualification and Disciplinary Commission of the Bar and became a member of the Board of the Ukrainian Bar Association. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Ethics Commission of this organization.

As a deputy of the Kyiv City Council of the VIII convocation, he chaired the Standing Committee on Regulations and Deputy Ethics.
