State auditors failed to inspect the procurement of the Reni branch of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority for the repair of berth 29 for a total of UAH 14.3 million. This is reported by the State Audit Service of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
It is noted that, in particular, the audit included control measurements in terms of the volume of work performed on the berth, which was carried out underwater.
To inspect underwater metal structures with an ultrasonic thickness gauge, the auditors engaged divers from the Interregional Rapid Response Centre of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
“Instead, the management of the Reni branch of USPA ignored the appeal of the Southern Office of the State Audit Service,”
– the report says.
Due to the denial of access to the audit, the auditors appealed to the Police Department No. 2 (Reni) of the Izmail District Department of the National Police.
“The State Audit Service is preparing an appeal to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the management of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” regarding the need to intervene in the situation with obstruction of the legitimate activities of state auditors during the inspection of seaports,”
– the State Audit Service added.
It is noted that earlier the auditors were unable to carry out planned measures of state financial control at the State Enterprise “Sea Commercial Port “Chornomorsk” and the State Enterprise “Belgorod-Dniester Sea Commercial Port”.
