Trust rating: Trump is a victim of Russian disinformation. Sociologists confirm this

19 February 13:56

United States President Donald Trump, unfortunately, lives in a disinformation space. This is how President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the White House chief’s statements that his support among Ukrainians is allegedly 4%, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelenskyy referred to the results of a February poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, according to which the rating of trust in the current head of the Ukrainian state is 57%.

“If someone wants to change me right now, it will not work right now,” the president said, and reported that there was evidence that similar figures of 4% trust were being discussed between representatives of the United States and Russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy retains a fairly high level of trust in society

As of the first half of February 2025, 57% of Ukrainians trust President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 37% do not. The balance of trust and distrust is plus 20%. These are the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

Moreover, according to sociologists, trust indicators have improved slightly compared to the last survey in December 2024, when Volodymyr Zelenskyy was trusted by 52%, distrusted by 39%, and the balance of trust and distrust was plus 13%.

In all regions of Ukraine, the situation is quite similar and the balance of trust and distrust is positive.

According to Anton Hrushetskyi, Director of KIIS, commenting on the survey results, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy retains a fairly high level of trust in society (in fact, for a democratic society, having a current trust score is a very good result!) and even more so, he retains legitimacy.

“If some international partners-allies are worried about the legitimacy of the President in the context of possible peace talks and consider it appropriate to insist on elections, then from the point of view of Ukrainian citizens themselves, there are no problems with this, the current President and the government are quite legitimate to conduct difficult negotiations, and elections should be held after the end of the war and at least after Ukraine receives reliable security guarantees,” Anton Hrushetsky emphasized.

It is reported that on February 4-9, 2025, the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology conducted its own all-Ukrainian public opinion poll “Omnibus”, to which it added a question about trust in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on its own initiative. A total of 1,000 respondents were interviewed by telephone based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers (with random generation of phone numbers and subsequent statistical weighting) in all regions of Ukraine (government-controlled territory).
