“Shakhtar win their second victory in the Conference League: how it happened (photos)

Shakhtar Donetsk has confidently defeated Icelandic club Breidablick 2-0 in the 3rd round of the Conference League. This success was the team’s second victory in the current European Cup season, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing the club’s press service.
After a 1-2 defeat by Polish Legia in the previous round, the Miners approached the match in a difficult position, but managed to pull themselves together and show quality football. In the Ukrainian league, the team also went through an emotionally charged period: they lost to Dynamo in the Cup but took revenge in the Premier League.
In Iceland, Shakhtar was active from the first minutes and opened the scoring in the 28th minute: after a corner kick, Artem Bondarenko scored a goal after a pass from Yegor Nazarina.
In the second half, the Ukrainian club doubled its lead. Brazilian legionnaire Cauan Elias completed the combination after a pass from his compatriot Izaki Silva – 2-0.
The victory allowed Shakhtar to move up to seventh place in the Conference League standings. After three rounds, the team has six points and retains a good chance of reaching the playoffs.
There are three more group stage matches ahead, and they will determine whether the Donetsk club will be able to continue fighting in the spring.
The Shakhtar will play their next game in the Ukrainian league on November 9 against Poltava. After that, the players will join the national teams for the November international break.
