Chinese leader Xi Jinping has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin four times about the inadmissibility of testing and proliferation of nuclear weapons, but the Kremlin has ignored these warnings. This was stated by the former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Army General Mykola Malomuzh.

In his commentary, the general noted that the Chinese leader takes the issue of the nuclear threat extremely seriously, emphasising the catastrophic consequences of such a scenario for humanity.

“Xi Jinping has sternly warned Putin four times about the inadmissibility of using and testing nuclear weapons. The scenario of a global war would leave no survivors. This was said both during the meetings in Beijing and Moscow. However, despite all the warnings, Putin continued to conduct exercises with three ballistic nuclear missile systems,” Malomuzh said.

These statements came amid international concern over North Korea’s possible involvement in hostilities on the side of Russia. Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Kremlin feared a harsh reaction from China due to military cooperation with Pyongyang.

Xi Jinping is trying to curb Russia’s aggressive actions in the field of nuclear policy, which indicates the deterioration of relations between Beijing and Moscow in the context of global security.
