The US has urged its citizens to leave 14 countries in the Middle East immediately: full list

3 March 07:54

The US State Department has issued an urgent recommendation for US citizens to immediately leave a number of Middle Eastern countries due to a sharp deterioration in the security situation in the region.

This was announced by US Deputy Secretary of State Mora Namdar on social media platform X, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Which countries are considered dangerous

American citizens are advised to use commercial transport to leave 14 countries immediately:

  • Bahrain
  • Egypt
  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Israel (including the West Bank and Gaza)
  • Jordan
  • Kuwait
  • Lebanon
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Syria
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Yemen

The State Department emphasizes that the situation in the region remains unstable and risks could escalate rapidly.

Why the US issued an urgent recommendation

The call came amid a large-scale escalation of the conflict between Iran, Israel, and other countries in the region. A number of countries have reported attacks on military and energy facilities, as well as disruptions to airports and ports.

Earlier, there were reports of the closure of oil and gas facilities and complications in shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which further increased tensions.

How many Americans are in the region

According to various estimates, there may be between 400,000 and 500,000 US citizens in these countries. The State Department has urged Americans not to delay their departure and not to wait for a possible evacuation.

The official recommendation applies to both tourists and those who live or work in these countries.

What this means for the international situation

The US decision may indicate preparations for further escalation or expansion of the conflict. Calls for immediate departure usually precede either large-scale military action or a serious deterioration in the security situation.

International airlines are already reviewing their routes, and insurance companies are warning of possible coverage restrictions.

Is further escalation possible?

Analysts believe that developments will depend on the response of Iran, Israel, and their allies. For now, countries in the region remain on high alert.
