The situation in Kupiansk, Kharkiv region, is critical. Russian occupants are very close to the city along the entire front line. This was announced by the head of the Kupyansk city military administration Andriy Besedin on the Espresso TV channel, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
Besedin noted that the enemy is constantly shelling the city with all types of weapons.
“The situation is currently very difficult and critical. It concerns the front line, the security situation, social and critical infrastructure. In addition to the security situation, the weather conditions are also a problem. Our utilities are struggling 24/7 to save apartment buildings because a large number of people are absent. There is freezing of the system inside the buildings,” the official said.
He added that the enemy is constantly trying to advance.
“The occupants are trying to attack using UAVs. There are constant strikes, which, unfortunately, control the logistics routes and complicate the life of the community,” summarized Besedin.

We would like to add that about 1.6 thousand residents remain in the Kupiansk community who are subject to evacuation, said the head of the Kharkiv regional military, Oleg Syniehubov.
“About 1,500 people are still subject to evacuation from the right bank of the Kupyansk community. About 120 civilians remain on the left bank,” Sinehubov wrote in a telegram.
During a telethon on February 18, he noted that the provision of social services to the population there is impossible due to Russian strikes that target rescuers, police, and doctors.
“The enemy continues to terrorize the civilian population of the region and strike at civilian infrastructure, using, among other things, fiber-optic drones and Molniya UAVs. Together with our military, we are taking measures to counteract this,” noted Syniehubov and urged people to evacuate.
According to the General Staff, the enemy conducted 16 offensives in the Kupyansk sector in the last day near Petropavlivka, Pishchane, Zahryzove and Lozova. Ukrainian troops repelled 14 enemy attacks, and two firefights are ongoing.
