Apple’s board of directors is preparing for the resignation of CEO Tim Cook next year and is already looking for a successor.
This was reported by the Financial Times, citing sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“Senior management has recently stepped up preparations for Cook to hand over the reins of the $4 trillion company after more than 14 years,” the sources said.
According to them, the most likely successor will be Apple’s senior vice president of hardware development John Turnus, but the final decision on this issue has not yet been made. The sources added that Cook’s departure is not related to the company’s current performance.
The authors of the article said that the CEO’s resignation is unlikely to take place before the release of the annual profit and loss statement at the end of January, as the announcement of the results will fall during the holidays.
According to experts, if the CEO is replaced in early 2026, the new team will have the opportunity to prepare for the iPhone launch in September and the developers’ conference.
Prior to that, Apple published financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025. The publication says that total revenue amounted to $102.5 billion, which is 8% higher than last year’s result of $94.9 billion. Operating profit increased from $29.59 billion to $32.43 billion, and net profit almost doubled from $14.74 billion to $27.47 billion.
