Triumphants of 2025: the best athletes of Ukraine are named

Ukraine has summarized the results of the sports year. Ukrainian canoeist Lyudmyla Luzan and diver Oleksiya Sereda were recognized as the best athletes of 2025, the National Olympic Committee reported, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
As part of the celebrations on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, the best athletes and coaches of the year and November’s winners were awarded. The event became the centerpiece of the gala evening and honored the athletes who represented Ukraine on the international stage in 2025.
The awards were presented by the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadym Gutzeit and Vice President of the NOC, Chairman of the Expert Commission Oleksandr Krykun.
“Each medal is not only a sporting result, but also a testament to our indomitable spirit. You are demonstrating to the world the strength of the Ukrainian spirit and the will to win,” Vadym Gutzeit emphasized.
The best athlete of the year – Lyudmyla Luzan
Lyudmyla Luzan, four-time world champion in kayaking and canoeing, was named the best athlete of 2025.
At the World Championships in Milan, she set a historic record by winning four gold medals and winning all the races she competed in.
In her address to the Olympic family, the athlete thanked them for their support and recognition:
“Today’s award ceremony brought me back to the memories of triumph. I am grateful to the NOC of Ukraine for their trust and support, for seeing the path I had to go through this year.”
The best athlete of the year – Oleksiy Sereda
Oleksiy Sereda, a silver medalist at the World Diving Championships in Singapore and three-time European champion, was recognized as the best athlete of the year. After winning silver, he became the most titled Ukrainian diver from the 10-meter platform in the history of performances at the World Championships.
“I congratulate the NOC of Ukraine on its anniversary and thank my coach Tamara Tokmachova and the federation for their support. We are doing our best not to let the country down and show good results,” said Sereda.
The best coaches and the future of Ukrainian sport
Mykola Matsapura and Tamara Tokmachova, the coaches of the season’s main winners, were named the best coaches of the year.
The NOC paid special attention to young athletes:
- Rafael Kazbekova – the best young athlete of the year, world champion in rock climbing among young people;
- Nikita Sheremet – world junior swimming champion;
- natalia Perlova, the best coach of the young athlete of the year.
Results of November
The NOC of Ukraine also recognized the winners of the month:
- Pavlo Korostylov – Athlete of November (shooting), winner of the World Championships in Cairo;
- Oleksandr Kaminskyi – the best coach of the month;
- Zlatoslava Volosenko – the best young athlete of November (taekwondo);
- Viktor Podolian – the best coach of the young athlete of the month.
In addition, the national federations for canoeing, diving, swimming, taekwondo, mountaineering and climbing, and shooting, as well as the CSKA Armed Forces and Dynamo sports organizations, were recognized for their systematic training of athletes.
