Dnipro imposes moratorium on public use of Russian-language cultural products

In Dnipro, at the request of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language and residents of the city’s community, a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products has been imposed.
This was reported on the Facebook page of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The decision was made by the executive committee of the city council. The document is aimed at protecting the Ukrainian information space from the hybrid influences of the aggressor state and overcoming the consequences of prolonged Russification.
“Until the occupation of the territory of Ukraine is completely terminated, the public use of any cultural products created or reproduced in Russian is prohibited on the territory of the Dnipro community,” the decision states.
“Dnipro is an outpost city of Ukraine, it has shown its character and an example of civic responsibility. Such a decision is long overdue, as the public use of the Russian language in the cultural space is perceived by citizens as disrespectful to the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine and morally unacceptable in a full-scale war. This is a matter of national security, dignity and memory of the victims of Russian aggression,” emphasized Olena Ivanovska, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.
As a reminder, the petition to ban Russian-language music on streaming platforms in Ukraine gathered the required number of votes in three days.
