Sarkozy’s motorcade arrives at prison in France

The motorcade of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, 70, has arrived at the Santé prison near Paris.

Sarkozy will serve a five-year sentence in the only remaining prison in Paris.
on September 28, the former French president said that he did not expect to receive a real prison sentence. Sarkozy added that he did not understand the reasons for imposing the sentence without a delay until the appeal was heard.
A few days earlier, the Paris Criminal Court found the former head of state guilty of “criminal conspiracy”. At the same time, the politician was acquitted of corruption charges.
According to the investigation, in 2005, Sarkozy agreed with the then leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi, to receive funds for the election campaign in exchange for political support in the international arena.
