Large-scale SBU checks have begun in Lviv: what you need to know

From March 5 to 9, counterintelligence security measures will be carried out in Lviv, organized by the Security Service of Ukraine. Units of the National Police of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine are also involved in the operation. This was reported by the SBU Office in the Lviv region, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

When will the security measures take place?

Counterintelligence measures will take place from March 5 to 9 and will cover the entire territory of Lviv.

Law enforcement officers will monitor the situation in the city to:

  • identify possible sabotage threats;
  • preventing intelligence and sabotage activities;
  • improving the safety of residents.

Such checks are carried out within the framework of martial law in Ukraine.

What restrictions are possible in Lviv

During security measures, residents and visitors to the city may encounter temporary restrictions.

In particular, the following are possible:

  • restrictions on passage and traffic on certain streets;
  • document checks on citizens;
  • vehicle inspections.

Law enforcement officers may also conduct additional checks on individuals if there are reasonable grounds for suspicion.

They will check territories and buildings

As part of the operation, law enforcement officers will inspect:

  • public places;
  • common areas;
  • areas where prohibited items may be hidden.

The purpose of these checks is to identify potential threats and increase security in the city.

What the SBU is asking

The SBU has called on residents to be understanding of these measures.

Law enforcement officers ask that people:

  • carry identification documents;
  • comply with the lawful demands of law enforcement officers;
  • to comply with curfew rules.

The special service emphasized that all measures are being carried out in accordance with the law and citizens’ rights.
