On August 27, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka arrived in Hungary on a visit. The topic of the talks was the process of Ukraine’s European integration. This was reported by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
During the visit, Kachka met with Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs János Boka, Deputy Foreign Minister Levente Magyar, and Minister of Agriculture István Nájem.
The parties discussed Ukraine’s progress in European integration and readiness to open the first negotiation clusters, the protection of minority rights, efforts to achieve sustainable peace, and the development of bilateral relations.
“Taras Kachka emphasized that direct dialogue and cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary is the best way to realize the common interests of the development of Hungarian and Ukrainian societies, and Ukraine’s integration into the EU will help develop our relations,” the statement said.
Earlier, the media reported that US President Donald Trump had allegedly persuaded Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to stop obstructing Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
Hungary completely blocked the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU in June, and Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Hungary was not ready to support the European integration of Ukraine, which is in a state of armed conflict.
